€65 Million ICT Funding for Schools
Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee today (29 May 2025) announced a €65 million investment in schools to support digital learning and fund minor building works. €35 million in funding for ICT infrastructure will issue shortly to all recognised special, primary and post-primary schools, while €30 million in minor works funding will be provided to primary and special schools to use for maintenance and small-scale improvements to schools.
ICT Funding
The €35m in ICT grant funding represents the third tranche of ICT funding under the Digital Strategy for Schools to 2027 and builds on the €210m already allocated under the previous Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020 Enhancing Teaching Learning and Assessment and the €100m that has issued to date under the current strategy.
Digital Strategy for Schools
The aim of the Digital Strategy for Schools to 2027 is to build on progress made in the use of digital technologies. It is anticipated that issuing €35m in 2025 will enable the balance of funding of €65m remaining in the National Development Plan commitment to issue over the remaining years of the current strategy.
Supplying Schools With ICT Equipment
Here at Toomey AV we welcome this news as we have been supplying schools with ICT equipment such as projectors and interactive flat screens for a long time now and we look forward to playing a part in this major drive toward transforming classrooms into smart digital learning environments. We want to have a role in moulding the next generation. They will be intrepid: full of the confidence of learning instilled at a young age. They will be ICT literate: able to articulate their knowledge and experience and impart their learning to others. And they will be intelligent and adaptive: able to take to different digital environments with ease.
